Employing people from outside the EEA
The following information currently applies to all rowing clubs and affiliated organisations who wish to employ people from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland.
UK Visa and Immigration‘s points-based system allows rowing clubs to recruit the skills they need from abroad while providing assurances to the public that only those migrants needed will be able to come to the United Kingdom. British Rowing has been recognised by UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) as the governing body for setting endorsement requirements and issuing endorsements for rowing in England, Scotland and Wales.
In sport, International Sportsperson visa is applicable. The route replaced the T5 (Creative & Sporting) and Tier 2 (Sportsperson) visa routes, merging the two into one category.
This type of visa is for an elite sportsperson or qualified coach, who’s recognised by the sport’s governing body as being at the highest level of their profession internationally
Rowing clubs and other organisations need to apply for a licence to be on the register of sponsors for the points based system. Visit the UKVI website for more information.
British Rowing, Scottish Rowing and Welsh Rowing have been consulted in drawing up Rowing’s endorsement requirements and these will be reviewed in July 2023.

All jobs should be advertised before an endorsement is issued. In Rowing, advertisements should be placed on the websites of British Rowing, Scottish Rowing and Welsh Rowing, as well as that of UK Sport.
