Delivering Rowing – a training course for young people

British Rowing is launching a brand new training course, enabling young people to deliver rowing sessions under the supervision of a qualified coach.

Following changes to the UKCC Level 2, people under the age of 18 are no longer able to train as rowing coaches.

The new 16-hour training course – Delivering Rowing – is mixture of classroom-based theory and hands-on practical activities, delivered by a British Rowing Coach Educator.

The course will see young people aged 16-17 learn how to plan, deliver and assess a rowing session, conduct a risk assessment, explain proper rowing technique, and fully understand the role of a coach and session facilitator.

Applicants should have:

    • Participated in a man overboard, capsize or water rescue drill which has been run through a club or school by either a qualified tutor or a UKCC Level 2 Coach (rowing or water sports-related)
    • Attended as a minimum a Learn to Row Course Stage 1 & 2 / Explore Assistant Workshop or be regular rowers
    • A valid British Rowing membership

More information about the course – including sessions locations and costs – will be posted on the Education & Training section of the British Rowing website.
