One week to 25th Henley Women’s Regatta
There is just one week to go until the 2012 Henley Women’s Regatta (HWR), which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
To celebrate the silver anniversary of the illustrious women’s event, HWR organisers have announced a number of innovations that domestic and international crews, spectators, and friends should look out for this year:
Commemorative silver medals
Winners at this year’s Regatta and their coaches will each receive special one off commemorative medals, marking the silver anniversary of HWR.
Victrix – The Henley Women’s Regatta Winners’ Club
Victrix is brand new for 2012, and will be launched in the days leading up to this year’s Regatta. The club will be exclusively for former winners and their coaches, with benefits set to include access to a special enclosure and crew reunions at HWR. Past winners are warmly invited to contact the HWR Committee for information about membership.
Friend for Life membership
Another innovation for 2012, ‘Friends’ of the Regatta – a £450 life-time membership – will receive each year: a free car park pass for all three days of the Regatta; two badges granting access to the Chairman’s Enclosure; a free race programme and updates; free tea and coffee available throughout each day; the opportunity to take lunch and or tea in the Enclosure; and a voucher to purchase two tickets for the price of one to follow races from the Umpire’s launch.
The BBC will be on hand to help HWR celebrate its 25th birthday in style, broadcasting World Cup coverage from this year’s Regatta. The coverage will be presented by John Inverdale and Sir Steve Redgrave – who will also be on hand to present the trophies and medals at the prize-giving ceremony on Sunday 17th June 2012.
25th anniversary book
A one-off book outlining the history of HWR will be available to purchase at the Regatta and at events throughout the year, alongside a number of new souvenirs and gifts to celebrate 25 years of HWR.
