Guernsey RC rower breaks indoor record
Coulter rowed 100km in six hours, 56 minutes and 32 seconds, smashing the previous record for a heavyweight man aged 50-59 by more than 53 minutes.
The 53-year-old achieved the record during Guernsey RC’s Centurion Charity Row, in which 12 members of the Channel Islands club attempted to row 100km each to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
‘I knew I had a chance of breaking [the record] but not by that much, I’m really, really chuffed,’ Coulter told BBC Sport.
‘The only trouble I had was at about 45km. It just didn’t feel right. But that only lasted about 10 minutes and I was okay after that. It was just a matter of getting through it.’
The Centurion Charity Row team have currently raised a little under £3,500 for the MS Society. To donate to their cause, visit the Just Giving page.
