Durham schoolchildren reach Get Going, Get Rowing final

[newsimage=0]More than 200 schoolchildren took part in the Get Going, Get Rowing County Durham Final on Thursday 8 December.

The regional indoor rowing final – organised by the Tony Blair Sport Foundation in partnership with British Rowing – brought together children and young people from 16 schools across County Durham, all of whom had progressed from local finals.

After a day of fierce indoor rowing, 48 competitors and six school teams had booked their places in the Get Going, Get Rowing Regional Final on 1 March 2012, where they will represent County Durham against teams of other indoor rowers from the North East.

The County Durham Final also saw four competitors exceed the Indoor Rowing Gold Medal Targets for their age groups:

  • Year 7 – Bobbi Forster (Park View School) 100.20%
  • Year 11– Luke Mullen (St. Leonard’s School) 102.73%
  • Year 11 – Ellenya Smith (Durham School) 100.32%
  • Year 12 & 13 – Finn Scherzer (Durham School) 100.24%
