Michael Jones – Henley Rowing Club

British Rowing has learned this week of the death of Michael Jones of Henley Rowing Club with great sadness.

Michael was Hon Secretary of the National Umpires Commission for ten years, a position that his colleagues say he filled with great enthusiasm, commitment and attention to detail.  He was an active member of the Committee for Henley Town & Visitors Regatta, serving as Secretary for many years and was archivist at Leander Club.  Michael was also a contributor to Rowing & Regatta and had written two books on the sport that he was so dedicated to.

Di Ellis, Chairman of British Rowing said “Michael’s contribution as a volunteer to our sport has been outstanding and he will be sadly missed by so many in the rowing world.”

Our sincere condolences to Michael’s family from all at British Rowing.
