Western Region Club Conference

Saturday January 31st saw the West Region hold a conference for club volunteers, one of a series of being run by the ARA across the country.

The West conference was attended by 20 delegates from a number of clubs from across the region. In the first session clubs were given an overview of the ARA’s Strategic Plan for 2009-13, and were given the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the plans for the sport over the next four years.

After lunch the group was divided into two, with one group joining ARA Water Safety Advisor Stuart Ward for an introduction to the ARA’s new ‘RowSafe’ guidance document, while the other half were delivered the ARA’s new Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop, delivered by Child Protection Officer Annamarie Phelps.

Many thanks go to the club volunteers who attended the event and speakers who travelled down to the region to support the delivery of the conference.
