2008 Marlow Regatta, Dorney Lake Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd June

Once again Dorney Lake, Eton will host Marlow’s International Regatta over 2 days. This year sees an increase in overseas entries with crews travelling from Argentina, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, USA, the Netherlands and Ireland. A large UK entry is set to meet them on the 2000m man-made lake, host venue for the 2012 London Olympic rowing and canoeing events. In total 383 crews are entered for Saturday’s racing and 285 for Sunday.

Racing on Saturday takes place from 08:30 to 18:50, with races every 5 minutes throughout the day. Competitors will be racing over 2000m, with up to 7 crews per race.

Racing on the Sunday is split into 2 parts. Races from 09:00 to 11:10 will use the full 2000m course. These races are for Elite, Under 23 and Lightweight crews. In the afternoon the senior club crews will race over 1000m. These shorter races often produce very tight finishes in competitive races. The afternoons races will take place from 13:00 to 17:45

Dorney Lake has plenty of space for parking and spectators can sit by the lakeside to watch the racing. Refreshments and stalls are available between the boathouse and the 1855 Subscribers Enclosure. Entry is only £12 per car to enjoy the day’s racing, relax by the lake or explore the Arboretum that Eton College have planted.
